Some things before we start Since ASUS recently updated and released their new SDK i will divide this guide into two sections: The first section being the old ASUS Aura version which has very limited device support and stability but has the ability to get and set the colors of select Aura devices. You could use this to use the music mode in Aura and send the colors to corsair devices or you could use ICUE effects on Aura devices.
The second section being the new ASUS Aura version which supports all Aura devices at the cost of only setting the colors. With all Aura devices I mean all Aura compatible gear should work. If you don't mind only being able to set ICUE effects on your Aura devices then the second section is the preferred method. Note 2: This does not work with Asus Strix 20xx cards as they do not show up in the older aura version. Gigabyte and MSI support is expected somewhere in the near future. Note 4: Your device must be supported by the SDK.
If you need any further assistance on setting this up feel free to ask us over at discord. First of all, you will need Asus Aura 1. Using this with the newer versions might crash Aura. But that is not as bad as it sounds as you will be uninstalling it anyway :. You will need to use a program called CCleaner to do the job.
Most of the times a normal windows uninstall will not work as Asus doesn't uninstall everything for some reason. Just note that when uninstalling to both uninstall Asus Aura and Aura Service. This is how it would look. After you have installed Asus Aura and it starts up you should make sure it works by selecting the rainbow effect or any of the ones below that. It is an installer and will go through like any regular program installer. When that is done you should have a new desktop icon.
Double click it like a regular program and it should open. It should look similar to this after that. It will cause lag since it is getting and setting the color at the same time. Avoid that. It has no documented function so for now it is "just there". Ignore it for now. Another bug is that the Strix xe board is bugging out a bit. It works fine except for anything connected to either of the 12v RGB headers. Note 2: When launching Jacknet sync it may take longer since Aura takes long to add the devices in.
After making sure you have a working Aura install you can start by installing Jacknet sync. After you open it it may take a while but it should pop up eventually.RGB may not be for everyone, but for those who care about it, it's easy to spend a lot of time tweaking your setup. Having used Corsair iCUE as my main interface, I'm really happy that the colours and lighting effects I've spent far too long tweaking can now be applied to my non-Corsair components. I'd be lying if I said that having my motherboard and GPU pulsing just a few shades of blue lighter than everything else didn't bug me. As I mentioned earlier, you can also sync your peripherals with JackNet RGB Sync, so if you have a compatible RGB mouse, keyboard, or even a headset, you can fine-tune your entire desk to glow in colour-coordinated harmony.

Based on your motherboard chipset there are different methods to directly control it. At the moment of writing there are 2 implementation and each one supports a specific range of chipsets. Motherboards that are equipped with these chipsets expose an internal usb interface to control RGB headers and onboard leds by zones.
This method uses SMBus to edit your motherboard's superchip registers.

Indeed, alongside the inclusion of tempered glass side panels, RBG lighting has been the de facto trend for —so much so that it's harder to find components without the tech rather than with it.
Until recently, however, getting all those RGB components to work together has been a slog.
JackNet RGB Sync
There are proprietary standards like Corsair Cuewacky connectors like those on Phanteks' RGB stripsand components that require special breakout boxes in order to function, like Thermaltake's eye-catching Riing fans.
What has changed is that motherboard-makers have finally gotten 'round to integrating standardised RGB connectors and controllers into their motherboards, providing a central hub for all RGB components, and—with the help of software—a way to sync them all together for all manner of flashy visual effects.
While I've personally never been a fan of the garish gamer aesthetic, in the spirit of trying something new as the industry hits peak RGB, I'm giving RGB a go. And not just any old RGB. I've assembled a collection of the biggest and best RGB components the industry has to offer, from motherboards and memory through to keyboards and monitors yes, there are monitors with RGB lighting.
Contrary to what some component manufacturers might have you believe, there is something of a standard for RGB lighting, which originated from its use in home interiors rather than desktop computer systems. It's a simple four-wire connector with male and female ends, with the wires divided into red, green, and blue signals hence, RGBand a 12V line for power. Most LED strips for the home use the connector, which typically has an arrow to indicate which wire is the 12V wire.
This matters, because some component manufacturers have decided to implement their own version of the RGB standard, which often changes the order of the wiring, even if the connector itself is identical. Motherboard vendors typically use the standard connection, although even then there are differences.
Gigabyte uses a five-pin RGB connector, with the fifth pin reserved for use with LED strips that use a dedicated white LED, instead of blasting out all the colours together to simulate white. The best way to tell if your RGB components will work together is to simply consult your preferred motherboard-maker's compatibility page, like Asus Aura. For the most part, all the listed components will either use the standard RGB connector or—like in the case of Phantek's RGB strips—can be converted to do so with a readily available adaptor.
At the time of writing, the Asus Aura list has expanded to cover dozens of different components and manufacturers, including the likes of InWin, CableMod, Bitfenix, CoolerMaster, and Akasa. There are multiple cases with built-in RGB lighting that work with Asus' Aura Sync software, along with RGB strips, case fans, coolers, and even memory and power supplies.
Most components use a three-pin RGB connector to function, although some components like memory don't require it at all. Both G. Most motherboards come with two RGB headers, each supplying 12V of power.
However, if you have a particularly large PC case that you plan on filling with multiple RGB fans, each requiring its own header, this quickly becomes a problem. Some fans, like In Win's Aurora range, can be daisy-chained together but require a separate breakout box to provide power and avoid overloading the 12V connection on the motherboard.
Third-party solutions like Silverstone's LSB01 are also an option, which splits a single RGB header into eight while supplying extra power via a molex connector. A cheaper option, should you have more modest needs, is to split the RGB headers in two. You must login or create an account to comment.
